Erban Development wins Greensmart WA Sustainable Home of the Year Award
The team at Erban Development are proud to announce its recent achievements at the 2017 WA Greensmart Awards. Our recently completed custom home in the Perth Hills won the Sustainable Home of the Year and was a finalist in the Greensmart Home of the Year.
“This beautiful home showed the quality of workmanship through its striking honed concrete slab and natural rammed earth walls. The ‘rust’ painted cladding looked perfect along with the wing gutter and eaves lining” HIA Judging Panel.
Some of the design and sustainability features celebrated in this property, include:
This home achieves a 6.5 star energy rating (as per HERS nationally accredited rating system) despite the extensive use of glazing to the complete northern elevation which overlooks the clients property.
Exposed ‘Honed’ concrete flooring for both thermal mass and aesthetic
Insulated concrete walls (ICFs) for increased thermal and acoustic values.
Earth walls to the main living area for thermal mass heating in winter, but shaded in summer.
The use of structural insulated panels in the roof for thermal control
Wide eaves, calculated to shade the home in summer and allow sun in winter
Building orientation that captures the northern sun in winter
Highlight louvered windows that facilitate cross ventilation through the home.
A Heat pump hot water system for reduced energy consumption
A clever combination of open plan and outdoor living, suited to the client’s rural block.
We would like to thank our clients for allowing us to build such a unique & beautiful home for their familly. A big thank you also to our suppliers & contractors involved for their quality workmanship & continued support.
